I can understand that one of the scary things about this is 'Will I get whacked by someone I just don’t want to get whacked by?'

Rest assured; it can all be avoided.

'I'm on an errand for the Head'.

This means 'Consent Denied', and anyone persisting after that is out.

There is an LCPS logic behind this too; the last LCPS head died in 1992, and though a new one is spoken of, he or she is never seen; a shadowy and menacing eminence, much imbued with the character of Stavro Blofeld, so anybody doing something for The Head is probably not to be messed with.

Anyone (even grown ups) can use this in any situation to escape anything (including other pupils).
